Rua Luja is a Brand That I LOVE – Find Out Why…

Recently I attended the London Ethnic Boutique event, which was an amazing opportunity to further explore my passion for fashion. During my day there, I discovered plenty of amazing brands, along with a plethora of fantastic, inspiring people to share the experience with. One of my favourite brand on display was most certainly Rua Luja.

What can I say, other than I adore everything about their range of items? They’re a London based fashion label, which is part of London Organic – a company which supports those that supply organic clothing.

Predominantly, they stock long, elegant dresses that look fabulous. If you’re searching for a dress that will ensure you look glamourous for a special occasion, then Rua Luja may be the perfect choice. Plus, they stock a variety of different long dresses, so there’ll be something for everyone.

Now, other than what you see on the exterior, the brand has wonderful morals, values and beliefs if you dig a little deeper. For instance, they sell fur jackets, which I must admit, look divine. But, all of the fur that they use has been validated for being cruelty-free, which shows they have a conscience, and want to appreciate all living things on this planet.

Talking of fur jackets, I did manage to try one on during the event, and I honestly couldn’t fault it. You see, being a wheelchair-user, I often find it difficult to source clothes, especially jackets, because they seem to get caught in the wheels. To put it simply, finding the right jacket is a nightmare.

However, the length on the Rua Luja fur jacket is absolutely spot on, which I was amazed at; it doesn’t interfere with the wheels whatsoever. As I spent quite a while at the Rua Luja stand, I was able to try on most of their range, as well as delve into the finer details. Something that stood out to me, was that everything is extremely affordable, despite the high-quality materials.

All in all, I had a terrific day at the London Ethnic Boutique event, and I’m super-happy that I discovered Rua Luja. If you want to check them out, then either visit their website, or their Instagram (both links will be below).

Peter Twiss – A Touch of Class

Hi guys,

Peter Twiss

I met the Peter Twiss at the London Ethnic pop up shop on Kings Road in London and fell in love with his jackets and the ethos behind the design. Peter salvages luxurious silk fabrics making the products sustainable as well as being of the very highest quality.

He is a London based women’s wear designer who spent much of his childhood in Assam, North East India. He draws on inspirations from his childhood which are reflected in his collections and provides him with his unique signature style.

Peter has studied at Central St Martins in London and the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and gained work experience with Betty Jackson and Sarah Arnett and as a freelance designer for various London Boutiques before setting up his own label.

Peter’s love of his homeland Nagaland, North East India is clear, not only through the influence it has on his designs but also through his charity work. He has helped raise funds to improve education and medical facilities along with bringing water and electricity supplied to a small rural village in Akuman, Nagaland. He returns to Nagaland twice a year where he has a studio and manufacturing base. Peter explains how his homeland inspires his collection; I find it so much easier to be creative and realise new styles when I leave the developed zone and get off the beaten track closer to nature”

I have one of Peter’s jacket that I absolutely love. The designs are perfect for me as a wheelchair user with the tight cuffs meaning they stay clean and do not rub on my wheels.

I recently went to a party to launch the sale of the range at the Dragana Peresic store in London, met Peter again and other like-minded people in the industry, and celebrated the jackets going on sale: http://draganaperisic.com

Dragana and Peter share a philosophy of quality products for life and are trying to not to conform to the fashion industry’s current fast cycle but to slow it down and help customers appreciate real quality and style.
