mobileWomen.org Article on How I Deal with the Tough Times.

Hi guys

I have been featured in an article from mobilewomen.org called “Pushing for inclusion – Samanta Bullock’s mission”. Here’s a chance to know me and my story a little bit better.

I have answered some questions where I talk about how I deal with the tough times with some advice for someone with a recent injury or disability, as well as sharing some exciting future projects. I opened up about my background as a tennis player and a model, my passions and motivations, and so much more!

My disability hasn’t stopped me from chasing my dreams and neither should yours. I am on a journey to make fashion more accessible to everyone, and to create a positive impact in the world. Disabled people have the right to be represented and treated as equal.

It was lovely to share my story with mobilewomen.org. They are doing such a great work expanding horizons for women in wheelchairs. On the website you can find information on topics like health, sexuality, parenting, fashion and others. They are building an online community where people with disabilities can come together to share and learn from one another. There is even a forum where women across the world can share their ideas on different issues, a place to ask questions and get answers.

I hope 2019 has started well.  I am sure it will be the year of awareness about inclusion and more and more people will join our cause or start something good. Surprises are on the way.

I mainly came here to talk about a project that was launched last week and I am so happy to be involved with.  It is called Adaptdefy. It is a podcast talking about disabled people and how they are living full lives.

This idea came from Mike Brown who lives in New Zealand and became a wheelchair user a few years ago. He spent many years as an alpinist and yachtsman. He is also an entrepreneur driven to do good in the world.

He has  two current startup companies, adaptdefy and urigo and is the father of a 9 month old boy. Luckily for him he had inspirational disabled people to learn from and understand and develop different ways to do things. Social media is amazing in giving us the information we need and the motivation to live a more complete life. Mike is a husband, a father and an active guy that does not want to stop doing things. He is is willing to learn adaptive ways to to enable him to do activities and he will also share with us.

We recorded a pod cast at the end of last year while I was on holiday in Brazil. I was overwhelmed to see the website and all the interviews he has put together showing so many fantastic experiences from many different  people.

The definition of Adaptdefiers is People who have not only adapted, but have gone beyond and defied what they & others thought was possible

They included Joe Stone, Jezza Williams, Fillipe Kizu Lima, Darrul Tait, Tanelle Bolt and Ira Edwards.  You will have a taste of many activities such as fishing and skiing.

I would love for you to hear my interview with an open heart and to listen to the podcasts of all these amazing people that are sharing their stories to give you information and change lives, and also to know more about Mike and his vision.

We hope we can help you and if you know someone that would benefit from this podcast don’t hesitate to share it. We are a strong community and as I always say “together we can”.

#StrokeofGenius – moment where you choose how to live the rest of your life

Hi Guys
Do you know that kind of podcast you wish some day you would be part of? It’s the Stroke of a Genius. A real glimpse of a genius that started it and is making an impact on many lives. I am so honoured to be part of this journey and I had the chance to help a little with my story. I am sharing with you here what this project is about and a bio of it creators. They make weekly lives on Instagram its so worth taking a look.

#StrokeofGenius is about that seemingly small, yet incredibly important moment where you choose how to live the rest of your life. When you open up and share this, it gives others the opportunity to experience that moment too.

In 2017 we set out across America to find the #StrokeofGenius in people who have overcome life-changing, traumatic medical events. We documented the stories of 9 individuals from New York City, Nashville, Austin, Denver, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Seattle. Since the road trip, through online distribution of short clips, a live talk show on Instagram, live events, and speaking engagements, we have built an active online community. We take a unique approach to raising awareness, building community and inspiring hope for those who have lost the sense of life.

Right now, as we shape the story into a 9 episode, broadcast ready documentary series, we are using our online momentum and strategic partnerships to create an Internet based video platform for people to share their own story to enrich the lives of others.

#StrokeofGenius champions the human spirit.  Ultimately, this project is about sharing stories of triumph and empowering people to share their own stories.

FINDING your  #STROKEOFGENIUS

Kyle Mengelkamp and Liam Alexander

Kyle and Liam are the creators of #StrokeofGenius a documentary series about that seemingly small, yet incredibly important moment where you choose how to live the rest of your life.

How do you find your #StrokeofGenius? Well, over the last year Kyle and Liam have been traveling the US, and hosting a weekly Instagram Live show sitting down with people who have not only survived life altering medical events, but are now thriving.  Kyle can relate, he had a stroke at age 11, and Liam having not lived through something like this, brings a unique outside perspective. Together they explore topics of survival, thriving, what it takes to live a triumphant life, the importance of storytelling for our species, and the dramatic impact you can have on the world, just by sharing your story.

We Are All One – An Inclusive Poem by Me

Gunda Hafner Clothes. Panel on Inclusivity – Fashions Finest Samanta Bullock – Pic Martin _ storiesbymartin

Hello guy,

Yesterday was the Beyond Representation – Inclusivity & Fashion Panel at Fashions Finest.

It was amazing to be a part of it and share the stage with such well known panellists. I wrote a poem that I recited at end of our talk and I would like to share it with you.

I have been thinking about it for a long time and it was fun but also a challenge to put it on paper.

My idea was to send a strong message in a short and smooth poem.

I really hope you enjoy it. Feel free to share it.

Much Love to you all.

“We are all one
It’s a forest, it is us
In its magnitude, in it’s beauty, in it’s power
Each leave, each branch, each trunk is unique
How weird would be to have a forest with all the trees with the same size, height…
To kill the magic is to make standard
Why lose this identity?
We are all different,
This is the fun
This is the perfection
Let’s Celebrate our diversity
Let’s be happy and empower ourselves
At end we will comeback to the same place
To be part of the same soil.
Where we are all one
With no difference.”
