Here I am again. Would like to tell you about a new work I am doing with Graeae. We already started rehearsal this week, and the things are looking great!
AND … WOW.. Guess what?!?! .. You have this opportunity now! 🙂
Please take a look at the article below, to know little more about the show, and how you can join in this magnify experience.
Graeae Theatre Company are on a London-wide (and home counties) search for wheelchair users of all ages to be of its next participation programme alongside its Christmas production of Rhinestone Rollers.
At Christmastime, Graeae will be bringing back the Rhinestone Rollers to create a performance for the Clore Ballroom as part of the Southbank Social Dance programme. The show will be directed by Jenny Sealey, the co-artistic director of the Paralympic Opening Ceremony and Graeae’s Artistic Director.
Rhinestone Rollers is a power wheelchair line dancing troupe, and the last production ‘Wheels on Broadway’ was performed at a number of London Festivals in 2011. Performances are fully accessible with a caller (audio describer) for blind and visually impaired audience members and signed song for deaf and hearing impaired audiences.
This year we are committed to building on the participative nature of the show by including a specific performance section for additional new performers and to lead the audience to take a greater part.
OFFER TO PARTCIPATORY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS
We are keen to hear from wheelchair users (power or manual) or mobility scooter users of all ages to take part in a short series of up to four (4) workshops within a period of 5 November – 2 December (dates TBC and we will aim to be flexible) These workshops will be led by cast and creatives from Rhinestone Rollers at a venue near you, or at Graeae’s accessible building in Shoreditch. Within the workshops, you will be part of group who will be developing a dance/movement piece to perform within this year’s Christmas show, which is titled Sequins and Snowballs.
The first performance of the show is at the Clore Ballroom will reach up to 1000 people at the Southbank Centre on Saturday 15 December. We’d be encouraging everyone to bring along others too, to be part of this large interactive audience.
To get involved in this unique opportunity please contact Jodi at Graeae as soon as possible to discuss on 0207 613 6900 / firstname.lastname@example.org
